Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the weighted average changes in the prices of consumer goods and services purchased by households in the economy.
Year-on-year growth (percentage change since the same period in the previous year) in the CPI is the standard measure of consumer inflation. This indicator is closely tracked to monitor inflationary pressures in the economy. The CPI growth rate is sometimes used as a proxy for changes in the cost of living and is widely used in remuneration negotiations.
The data sample is part of the World Trend Plus database and it's CEIC Proprietary Global Economic Monitor datasets.
The Global Economic Monitor dataset comprises of headline key indicators, from all countries covered in our Global database, that are most frequently tracked in the monitoring of world macroeconomic developments.
The Global Economic Monitor (GEM) dataset is the first proprietary dataset that is generated by CEIC. While raw data series used to generate the GEM datasets continue to be sourced directly from official prime sources, CEIC analysts have normalised and standardised these raw data series to facilitate cross-country comparative analysis.
