Benefits: Data shows likelihood of subscriber conversion & engagement for a news article. Format & attributes: CSV with UID + score + confidence. Coverage: Currently ~4,000 news outlets (can be customised / expanded upon request). Scale: from 1 โ 100,000 rows at a time. We show the likelihood of subscriber conversion and engagement for a given set of news articles. This is shown in a traffic-light format, where red/yellow/green == low/medium/high likelihood of user engagement and conversion from unsubscribed, non-paying user to subscribed and/or paying user. Example: Global English language news content on Ukraine war, inflation, supply chain issues etc for the last 12 months, scored by conversion/engagement index. Data uniqueness: we use custom built and trained NLP algorithms to assess qualitative metrics inherent in text content. We focus on what's in the text, not metadata such as publication or engagement. Our AI algorithms are co-created by NLP & journalism experts. Our datasets have all been human-reviewed and labelled. Dataset: CSV containing URL and/or body text, with reader conversion and engagement as low/medium/high, and model confidence as a percentage. We ignore metadata such as author, publication, date, word count, shares and so on, to provide a clean and maximally unbiased assessment of content. Our data is provided in CSV/RSS/JSON format. One row = one scored article. CSV contains URL and/or body text, with scoring and model confidence. Data sourcing: public websites, crawlers, scrapers, other partnerships where available. We generally can assess content behind paywalls as well as without paywalls. We source from ~4,000 news outlets, examples include: Bloomberg, CNN, BBC are one outlet each. Countries: all English-speaking markets world-wide. Includes English-language content from non English majority regions, such as Germany, Scandinavia, Japan. Also available in Spanish on request. Use-cases: building content strategy for news product monetization. This includes publishing, aggregation, syndication, newsletters, free-to-access content platform and so on. Monetization is through advertising, subscriptions, donations, cross-selling, tipping etc. We analyse engagement indicators inherent in publicly available news articles, with or without paywall. Clients also use this to decide on PR, media and marketing campaigns, for instance by using the most engaging content to drive traffic, increase advertising ROI, raise subscription levels and reduce subscriber churn. Overtone provides a range of qualitative metrics for journalistic, newsworthy and long-form content. We find, highlight and synthesise content that shows added human effort and, by extension, added human value. This value can be translated into improved KPIs such as time on page, absolute page views, revenue per user, and click through rates.
